Hawke's bay boasts a Mediterranean-style climate with an abundance of sunshine hours. The summer temperatures reach between 25-30 degrees making it an ideal place to while away the summer days.

The area is fast becoming one of the most renown regions in New Zealand for viticulture and wine production with over 70 wineries.

Gourmet food and organic produce are in abundance with farmers markets on every weekend in Napier and Hastings where you can by direct from the source. Most of the wineries offer platters and lunches during the day with some being open for dinner in the evenings.

Ocean Beach and Waimarama situated about 30 minutes drive from Havelock North, are stunning long stretches of white sandy coast and are ideal for swimming.
